The Tea Plants For Propagation
The tea plants are increased by preparation of tea cuttings. Tea branches are picked and cut in the portion of tea leaf and a bud. The tea cuttings are planted in tea nursery and when cuttings grow; they become seedlings. The seedlings which have reached the size of 18" inches (about 45 cm) length is ready to be transplanted in the farm for extension of tea plantation area.
To raise good quality and high yielding tea, selected clone types for multiplication to improve varieties of tea seedlings. It is important to recommend that tea propagation should be done on the particular proven tea clones, for their yield quality. The other quality factors are: High quality, good quality green leaf made tea, easy maintenance tea bushes, drought tolerance, suitability to particular soil type that tea grow well within the recommended soil test and those tolerant to slightly high (alkalinity) and low (acidity).
